Another shot under the Champlain bridge.

From Wikipedia: "The bridge, with approaches, is approximately six kilometres in length. When the project began, the bridge was designated as the "Nuns' Island Bridge" because it crosses over Île des Sœurs (Nuns' Island). In 1958, it was officially named the Champlain Bridge in honour of the explorer Samuel de Champlain who founded Quebec City in 1608."

I liked the moody sky from that evening and tried to capture the moment. Again this was shot from the south-shore. I was set up on the base of a concrete beam that is half on land, half in water.

[Digital Spiel]
- Converted from RAW to JPEG to work for the web.
- A slight crop.
- Resized to fit TL using the Bicubic Sharper resample method.
- Removed some lens flare with the clone stamp and healing brush tools.
- Toned the image with a color fill adjustment layer on multiply blending mode (I masked out the highlights).
- Made a curves and a levels adjustments layers and dodge back the details on the concrete beam.
- Framed.

hey Gabriel, nice to see you around again.
You definitely captured the mood of that evening/moment. I really like the feel here. The water is dark and broody but has a nice texture to its surface. The top of the bridge has some nice lines coming over top of you. Also, the nice random lines on the support wall create a really interesting pattern. Almost like some kind of weird hieroglyphics. You know adding a gradient/layer mask of gold would look pretty nice with this image IMO.
I'm not sure about the concrete piece...bottom right...I like it to some extent, but then I also wonder what the whole image would be like with it removed. Just a point.
I really like your eye for things Gabriel. TFS and oh yes I do like the composition of this shot with the balance of light/dark tones.

take care,
Michael

Nice moody shot. Good idea with the darkening method as it has made the clouds more formidable. Nice work as always Gabe. It is so nice to have you back with us again.

WOW! A very dramatic shot Grabiel. It's nicely framed and the pp is just fantastic! TFS! Your note is definitely useful! :)

Nice to see some new work by you here, Gabe ;o).
I like the colour tones on this one. On the other hand, I'm not too sure what the picture does to my eyes; I thought the picture was tilted big time, but when I looked at the concrete beam, it's pretty straight. Optical illusion ? Lens distortion ? Me being tired ?
I think the latter is correct ;o)
TFS.

Composition here is great. I really like the telephone poles in the distance and the angle from which you shot this under. Nice work. (No smileys as per your preference). Thanks for sharing

Gabe, this one is stunning!!! i love the tones you used here - they really make the sky and water look super moody. fantastic composition too, with the sharp skyline.
cheers
- Tina
