[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Whilst in the little village of Richmond (a supposed ghost town in central Oregon) we were told by one of the resident ghosts about how a couple had built this place to be a hotel. Apparently whoever convinced them to do this never followed through and they lived there until the died and never did rent out a room.
I used a ND two stop grad filter and then adjusted the levels on the grassy area.

Hello Phil, what a pity that this fine looking building has been left to disintegrate. It makes a good opportunity for the photographer.
Good textures and colour.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Excellent use of the grad filter - the balance between sky and land is so beautifully managed here.

A sad story behind its decay, once it must have been a sight that filled them with excitement and anticipation - and eventually it would have been a bitter disappointment. That glowering sky is appropriate indeed.

Hi Phil, great mood to this shot, especially with the dark sky. Nice job. Thanks, Dave

Hi Phil,
Oh my - certainly sen better days? Even the tall dry tree speaks of the past. Nice light - I think the ND did the right thing for you on the sky. Well done and TFS. Gerald

I bet you knew you'd hear from me on this one :) Definitely my kind of subject!! A great story too, and especially as I've been reading about people in the 18 hundreds travelling to Oregon in search of a better life. Excellent colors and detail. I hope you have many more from this ghost town. TFS

good looking place, the contrasts and lighting make this shot attractive

Hi Phil,
your Grad'filter sure added to the impact of this image,as it was a week sky you had to work with, your chosen POV ceratainly shows off the deteriation of this older building. I hope you also took one of that great detail on the darker wood as it was unusual for this type of building.
Cheers

Ron

Hi Phil,
Darn, I missed this one. I've hunting for ghosts towns for two days in Oregon but never found something worth capturing. I probably got spoiled by Granite in Montana,
Anyway, the photo is great, showing the decay of the hotel. The exposure using the filters is perfect and makes the sky fit the mood.
TFS,
Niek
