"The Red Panda, also called the Firefox or Lesser Panda (Latin name: Ailurus fulgens, "shining cat"), is a mostly herbivorous mammal, specialized as a bamboo feeder. It is slightly larger than a domestic cat (40 - 60 cm long, 3 - 6 kg weight). The Red Panda is endemic to the Himalayas in Bhutan, southern China, Pakistan, India, Laos, Nepal, and Burma. There is an estimated population of fewer than 2,500 mature individuals. Their population continues to decline due to habitat fragmentation."

"De couleur roux et noir, le petit panda possède une grande queue touffue rayée, un masque facial et un physique qui lui donne l’allure d’un raton laveur. Sa taille est de 50 à 60 cm (20 à 24 po) de long avec une queue pouvant atteindre 50 cm (20 po) et un poids entre 3,0 et 6,2 kg (6,5 et 13,6 lb). La fourrure dense, de même que le métabolisme et le comportement en font un animal très bien adapté aux grands froids hivernaux. Ses sens ne sont pas particulièrement remarquables, mais l’odorat joue un rôle très important dans les relations sociales lors de la reproduction et du marquage du territoire

Le bambou compose , comme pour le grand panda, la grande partie de son alimentation, malgré sa dentition de carnivore. Il possède un faux pouce ou sixième doigt qui lui sert à saisir le bambou. Ses goûts sont tout de même variés, se nourrissant fréquemment d’un peu de viande. Excellent grimpeur, il s’agit d’un animal solitaire, crépusculaire et nocturne."

We must continue to care for the animals on our planet and raise concern about the destruction of their habitats!
What I particularly like about your shot is the composition, with the arched branch in the lower portion and the shape of this attractive animal, mimicking the shape of the branch.
Sad about the lack of sky but we cannot have everything to order!

Pour le petit panda :... Two points...
je ne pouvais faire autrement à titre informatif c'est mon surnom (ben oui painda - panda c'était facile, je sais hiberner et tout comme lui je suis rouquine alors!!!)
Moralité j'ai envoyé cette photo à mes amis pour attester que le sujet pouvait être pris en photo ! ils ont été effarés de savoir qu'il existait d'autres exemplaires...

Bon voilà petite note d'humour émise par petit panda mais ne vaut en rien ta note qui, elle, est des plus scientifiques...

Quite a nice capture of this red panda, I like the sharpness on the subject and your elegant framing. However, I guess light was coming from just opposite, so some parts of the image easily beacame overexposed. Not a big mistake though, I like your composition. TFS!
