Saturday I took a drive to Mt. Admas country as I had been watching the thunderheads form during the late evening hours in the vicinity from Vancouver, some 50 or 60 miles away in a straight line. The sunsets in Vancouver during the week had been phenomenal and as the atmosphere had turned a bit better on Friday night I had a suspicion that the skies would be ideal for a sunset at Tahklakh Lake. I arrived 3 1/2 hours earlier than the sunset to insure my spot, one that I had never been, as this was my first time attempting to capture the sunset and reflection at this location in all the years I have been shooting. This image was the second to last image of a full roll of 37 images that I captured, from the onset of the sunset until near dark. The clouds had just moved over the mountain about 20 minutes before the sun began to change and the colors began to show, and after 34 images, the moon popped out from behind the clouds to accent the image.
A lesson learned here was an image earned with patience, regardless of the rush of mosquitoes and flies that I had to endure the complete time I was sitting on the bank of the lake and writing a letter to a friend far away, in another land.
As the sunset began I took off the polorizer I had used during the day as I captured scenes hopefully for the tourism magazine for Washington State, and I chose not use the grad as I thought the lighting was near even throughout the scene.
Enjoy,
Steve

Hi Steve
A beautiful view and excellent work
Loved the reflection, very beautiful environment!

U may take multi exposure n ravel the hidden details more over removing ur polarizer isn't a very good idea, u could try giving a little longer exposure :)

Magnificent! Amazing colours and I LOVE the reflection. The silhouetted leaves on the sides work very well to frame the image.

Very nicely done!

Hi steve

I kind of regret now, not taking the boat across from Victoria on Vancouver Island, to Port Angeles & getting a bus on to Seattle. A superb sunset with wonderful pinkish orange colour tones. Tfs!

Hi Steve
Thanks for your patience. It really paid off in spades. I like the framing by the nearby shrubs on either side. The colours are really stunning. Enduring all this heat has to have some positive aspects.
Cheers
