This is one shot I will freely admit I don't care much for... I shot this one evening in London when I was over there in January this year.

I didn't bring my SLR with me, this was shot with my little take-everywhere Canon IXUS pocket camera.

I've cropped it down from the awful 4:3 ratio that P&S cameras seem to use to a more sensible 3:2

I don't like this shot very much because I find it boring. Reason I shot it was because I was actually staying in the Premier Inn right behind the Eye... and it was to show the folks back home where I was. But the photo kind-of took on a life of its own. Everybody I show it to seems to like it.

I really don't like taking postcard-type shots but every now and then I sell out and post one because I like the praise they generate. Hey, at least I'm honest!!

I do find it perplexing that the photos I've taken that I like, nobody else does, and vice versa. However I will keep taking the shots I like, and every now and again I'll pander to popular opinion...

Technical info on this one - it's all in the EXIF. Just a 1 sec exposure with the Canon IXUS, then I tilted the curves slightly and cropped it in the GIMP.

Please, make my day. Tell me how awful and boring this shot is!!

Hi Adam

Besides you don't care too much to this photo, I really like it as a night photo, good light, good sharpness and composition.. and I like also the reflexes on water
I don't think it's boring at all..
Maybe it's a postcard for you, but very interesting for others.. ;)

Hi Adam,
I like the photo, even it's a P & S camera, looks to me a great shot and even me I can't do that. Nice color combination, the sharpness looks awesome, well done!

Hi Adam, Well balanced composition and the movement makes it more dynamic than it would be otherwise. The reflections are helpful in adding drama too. It is definitely not boring as most people seeing this image (like me) have not seen the engineering masterpiece with our own eyes so it is good to see your photograph of it. And remember "If you are tired of London, you are tired of life" and i'm sure that is not your state! TFS. Murray.

photo de nuit très réussie,

bravo Adam,
