Taken in the Wieliczka salt mine in Poland.
The Wieliczka salt mine reaches a depth of 327 meters and is over 300 km long. It features a 3.5-km touring route for visitors (less than 1% of the length of the mine's passages) that includes historic statues and mythical figures.
Here portrayed: a worker dragging along a heavy cart full of salt.
The statues in the mine are all sculptured out of salt blocks and give a good idea of what the work of a salt miner must have been like.
I took the picture without a tripod, using rear flash, because it was obviously very dark in there. |

Hi Nathalie,
This is a great shot, it must have been a hard life down in the mines. What little colour there is looks good and the back flash you used has not burned out to many details but has still given you a strong shadow on the rope. I think this shot would also work great in B&W if you wanted to subdue the orange glow from the light. Cheers
