I'm a terrible notorious "shoot-on-the-fly" through the car window type person. Where we were this scene was quite common. The Pennsylvania Dutch are strong in this area. This was a scene we drove up on one day. I was SO wishing the road was dirt, to age the photo, but this goes on today, carriages being pulled by horses.
I converted to a light sepia and added a vignetting and a bloom.

Ciao Linda, fascinating B&W, romantic composition with lovely couple, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Linda,
I LOVE THIS PHOTO! Your B&W is perfect and a really classic scene. Nice job on the capture of the Amish? I like the road as is- showing us a glimpse of todays world. TFS Julie

Hi Linda...great, great shot...I think this is my favorate...perfect.

Roger

Hi Linda
good shot of a scene from the Amish way of life.
interesting and indeed out of date vehicle.
the sepia version makes the image more authentic.
I like it.
greetings
tsilla

Hi Linda,

a good b/w here. these carraiges are very less seen. only in few areas. nice capture and good use of sepia color to it to create the mood here.

Tfs,
sanjib.

A bit too much empty space, for me.I've made a WS, hope you don't mind.
Anyway, it's a wonderful work

thanks,
v

ME ENCANTA ESTA IMAGEN, TE FELCITO ES EXQUISITA, FELICIDADES LINDA

Hi Linda,

Great shot of this daily life scene in many parts of Pennsylvania. I agree that a dirt road would be perfect for this, but it is what it is. I hope they didn't mind being photographed, because I've been told that they shun it.

Best regards,
Werner

Double stripes you are not aloud to pass
So you had to stay there.
And now you live in the dark ages
But the photo is a dream shot

This is great Linda:)
You are right about dirt road... not that many of them at the moment we want have it for shot.
Yes in PA we can see constantly Amish people - even in some places they sold beside the road some nice handcrafts.
For this subject with sepia this picture is perfect - very good presentation.
Cheers - Tom

Hi, Linda -
I'm enjoying your Pennsylvania photos. Great job for a shot from a car. Love the monochrome which gives it an antique feel, and the POV from the rear. I like it better that they are on a paved road instead of dirt; it gives the image a bit of a surreal feel. In the past few years I've read several articles about the increasing numbers of collisions between cars and buggies in Pennsylvania Dutch areas - I guess it's symbolic of the stresses between the old and new worlds that the Amish somehow live in simultaneously.

hi linda!!
very good choice with this beautiful tone. I agree with vlad about cutting.

hi linda.
both of us in bw.
very nicely caught and the treatment is excellent. it could be the end shot of a movie.
the vignetting gives the buggy prominence in the frame.
hugs,
Brian.

ps.
the Amish have a website.
how do they see it???????????????

Boa tarde Linda

Great capture Linda and the treatment is just right
cheers

You know what? If it was me, I'd have been tempted to keep it in colour and avoid any of the "aging" treatments.

I know aging the shot is the automatic thing to do - but to me there is a real charm in the fact that the road is tar seal; that the cart seems to have a "Hazard" sign on the back of it; I think playing up the sense of anachromism, the old vs the new, would be a wonderful and original treatment of the subject.

Nothing wrong with shooting on the fly, a lot of great shots are achieved that way!

Great Title Linda!
Very good PP and moving theme as said Julie: "a really classic scene".
Best regards,
Raimundo

Hello,
Nice scene. Very nice lightness and good b/w conversion. Beautiful perspective.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hi Linda,

Terrific shot and I'm so glad that you took it! Not a common sight in many parts of the country. I like the black and white you have chosen. It gives it a different feel than color would. The curve of the road is nice and I like how it appears to lead to nowhere... Gives a bit of mystery to the shot as to where they are going. Terrific job Linda. :)

Classic Americana. you can be proud of this. Janos

Wow i love this Linda...good pp work :)
