[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This shot was taken in the Ngala Private Game reserve in the Timbavati in the northern Kruger National Park in South Africa.
This female was super tired after a long night of hunting and eating, and was getting ready for her mid-morning nap when we arrived. She gave a couple of BIG yawns and then promptly fell over on her side and slept like a log, oblivious to all of us clicking away barely 5 metres from her!
I took about 50 pics of her yawning, and in my humble opinion this was the best one.
Would love to hear what everyone thinks!

Hi Neil,

This is a very good shot of the lioness yawning with very sharp details and great colours but there is no light on her face which spoils it a bit ihmo.

Great "candid" shot:) I like how the light highlights the wide-open yawn and sharp pointed teeth. Good composition and clear details. An excellent close look and sense of a natural moment in the wild.
