It was ten years ago...
Grave of Amália Rodrigues at Prazeres Cemetery in Lisbon. Photo taken couple of days after Her funeral. Amália da Piedade Rebordăo Rodrigues (1920-1999) was a Portuguese singer and actress. She was known as the Queen of Fado (Rainha do Fado) and was most influential in popularizing the Fado worldwide. On October 6, 1999, Amália Rodrigues died at the age of 79 in her home in Lisbon. Portugal’s government promptly declared a period of national mourning. She is now buried at the National Pantheon alongside other Portuguese notables. In 2007 she came in 14th in Portugal’s election of The Greatest Portuguese (Os Grandes Portugueses). Amalia was the Fado Ambassador. You cannot mention Fado without thinking of Her.

Morning Mikolaj ;)
well done...
J ;)

Bonjour Nikolaj
Yes , Fado in my mind is always associated to the name of Amalia Rodrigues; I like fado too and know of it fom 40 years.
Very interesting picture and notes , the scan of a 10 years old cannot of course give the quality of a nowadays numeric one.
Have a good day
Henri

hello Mikolaj
how are you doing?
thanks for sharing a legend to the world, after reading your notes i got to know about the lady.
good capture and a homage to the singer and the actoress.
nice composition. i like the old picture effect on it, i suppose its due to the scanning, and this age effect do justice to the shot.

dear Mikolaj Cava,
Amália Rodrigues is known even in far east Japan...
10 years have passed very fast, in my feeling, but this your shot reminds me of some significant affairs in that year...
this shot is so precious for you, and us too.
thank you,
Akihisa
