Sunday I had hoped to have a good day to visit Lake Wateree and check to see if fall had arrived here yet. (Almost..) It was cloudy in the morning so I hung out, cleaned my sensor, relaxed. About 2 pm the sun came out. It was beautiful. Packed up my stuff and headed out to lake. About halfway there it completely clouded over. I was bummed and very tempted to return home. Instead, I decided to try some cloudy weather shots. This is one of them. I adjusted the highlights and shadows, cropped, framed and sharpened. The yellows of the few trees that had turned didn't show up very well, so I used the backlight tool in Photoscape and it seemed to help. Hope you enjoy it.

(While I was there, the sky cleared again and I managed to get some sunny shots, too.)

HI Shelly,
I bet your'e pleased you tried a few cloudy shots, this is brilliant, the reflection is superb as is the PoV and colours. TFS
Bri

Well done! Good use of space and natural framing in the composition, and the reflections are superb, multiplying the view of the beautiful trees and clouds patterns. Great mood and moment:)

Beautiful work - I love the colours and reflections. Great composition with the grass in the forefront and tree branches on the sides for balance. I wish fall was starting here in northern Ontario, but now all the colour is gone and replaced with freezing drizzle! So it's nice to see this, I like the serene and peaceful atmosphere.

Hi Shelly,

Nothing wrong with this cloudy shot! Their reflections are nicely seen in the calm water. Your POV along the lake is great, as well as your pp work. It looks like a nice, peaceful place, TFS.

Warm regards,
Werner

Hi Shelly
Great reflection even with the cloudy sky it gave this shot the look of tranquility and your pp paid off as it looks pretty darn natural to me.
Well done

Hi Shelly,
It is not easy to bring out the real Fall colors in a light situation like this. The camera tends to "read" the reflected light off the water and the sky and as a result, the colors in the trees tend to get washed out and flat. May be if you had bracketed and shot a few using different speeds you could have got one with the proper colors. Still the overall photo is not bad at all.

Shelly, you are such a perfectionist! I find absolutely nothing wrong with this photograph showing off the lake and autumn colors. This certainly belongs on many calendars for an October or November page.

Hi Shelly,
Outstanding photo! Such a tranquil looking place, love the reflections in this image. The lake looks so still, the autumnal trees are a real bonus. It all looks very clear and sharp, almost feel like I'm standing there admiring the view in real life. Well photographed.

TFS,
Scott.

Nothing wrong at all with cloudy-weather shots - here at least the sky has texture, interest, and form. I like it! I also like the 1:2 ratio of your composition.
Thanks for deciding to share this one!

This is GREAT, Shelly!
A very peaceful and lovely scene.
Beautiful colors, lighting and composition.
A great reflection too.

TFS and greetings from Netherlands,
Adri

Hello,
beautiful shot with cloudy sky, I like the symmetry of reflections and soft colors
regards
Ryszard

You did extremely well here Shelly! Clouds cause glare and it's a pain for photography! But you nailed the levels here, and I do see some color, a little, like we have here! Nice work!
B-)
Linda

Hi Shelly, it might not be what you hoped for,but I think that it is a fabulous shot. The composition is perfect. The sun may not be shining brightly but the reflections of the cloudy sky with touches of blue are what make the shot work for me.
Good natural colours.
Best wishes Jean.
