[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Gloster Gladiator was the last British-built biplane fighter, used by the RAF and the Royal Navy (As the Sea Gladiator)

Though often pitted against more formidable foes during the early days of the Second World War, it acquitted itself reasonably well in combat.
It saw action in almost all theatres during the Second World War with a large number of air forces, some of them on the Axis side.

It was boasted to have taken on many German naval vessels successfully, and despite it's extremely light airframe was a battle worthy craft.

This particular shot was taken at the Duxford air-show in July.

The slow and purposeful fly-past lent itself to a relatively small aperture for depth, which in turn gave great prop blur, to the point that it's almost invisible.

In this shot, the Gladiator was flying in a small group with three other planes, but i singled it out, panned, filled the frame and fired.

For this upload, i cropped out a tailplane from the right of the frame, then In Aperture 2 for MAC:
sharpened +.88
saturation +.40
contrast +0.05
Resized and USM in PP

Thanks for looking,

Martin

Martin -
Beautiful Gladiator! I didn't know any were still airworthy. Perfect composition and a very helpful note.
regards,
Gilbert

Hi Martin,

I wish I was a passenger in the plane. Looks like fun. Nice shot. The bright red wheel adds a nice splash of color to the shot. Lisa

What a fantastic shot, Martin...
Brilliant exposure, MAD nice sharpness and detail, great stop action. The colors look beautifully natural and it looks fabulous against that blue sky. I particularly like how sharp and clear his helmet shows up. Excellent cropping, too, leaving some space in front of the plane. Man, that's a nice shot. Well done! Many thanks and kind regards,
Shelly

Great shot Martin, I wish there were more older aircraft in NZ to photograph, I'm going to the Warbirds over Wanaka in 2010, have my tickets already, so need to hone my skills at shooting aircraft shots.

Nice clear details and colours. Well done.

Hola Martin.
