[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Jamie has great dramatic features and is able to be photographed with side light or in this case "Rembrandt" type lighting. Ordinarily women's soft features don't lend them to this type of drama. There is only one light here and rather than facing Jamie it is facing down and is placed on the left side of the frame. I like the effect more than shining the light directly on her face.

I added some black space on the right side of the frame just to add some interest. A traditional shot would have added space on the other side but sometimes it is fun to change things. Black and white conversion was through NIK's Silver Efex Pro which give more control than most of the other conversion tools.

Hi Roger,

A wonderful portrait full effect of light and shadows, very nice détails.
I like very much portrait in B/W, great job.
TFS.
Have a good week end, my friend.

Hello Roger,
First impression was the space on the right...not the first time you have used that configuration...broken the rules as it were...and it works well for me. It would not have worked had she looked out of the photo. A very good portrait with great atmosphere. Well done.

Hi Roger,
The courage you have to experiment in such a difficult task of portraiture is fantastic! You produced a winner here with only a side light. Harsh, in my opinion, on such a beautiful lady, but you managed it perfectly. Yes, I like the black patch in the right, it gives impact to the final presentation.
Beautiful shades and contrast.
A very instructive note.
Well done for this professional work.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Amazing portrait with superb play between light and shadow, Roger!

I am a great fan of such strong portrait and the lighting arrangement which do bring strong contours in the shot.
Great sharpness and well management of exposure with a good eye-contact with the model.
Well done!

Have a nice weekend.

Kind regards,
Paras

Bom dia Roger,
Serenity and beauty is what I see in the look and faces Jamie.
Superb light that pours into the model as if it were a shower of light. Shadows magnificent indeed.

Wow! Excellent portrait of Jamie! And I agree the lighting is awesome and it enhance the beauty of the model. Good dof with nice contrast. Very well done, tfs.

Roger, you did the right thing by adding black on the right, it gave me the graduated transition from dark to light. Rules are meant to be broken, a privileged that a good artist like you can do. Great camera combined with the best glass in the hands of Roger creates magic. I like the expression on her face, the light on her hair, the super focus and sharp details. Well Done, I am sure Jamie is thrilled.

best wishes
Vic

Roger,
I also like this Jamie portrait (really also liked your previous one of her you posted before). The single-source lighting and your position of her in the frame creates a dramatic tension. Monochrome rendering is excellent with a strong interplay of light and shadow.
Jamie's expression is slightly mysterious.
Well Done

Olá Roger
I like to see Jamie in a " rembrandt" light... The play with black is very good. She looks diferent more classic . It is an excellent portrait.
um abraço
teresa

Hi Roger, but I feel something missing on the right side of the beautiful portrait.
