[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture is taken from the spot where the Olympic flame is lit before it begins its journey to th next site of the Games. A runner leaves here and heads down this path past the ruins of Ancient Olympia.

Often times the flame will circumnavigate the earth before it reaches the host city. The next Olympics will be in Torino, Italy. The torch relay begins here on December 8 and covers 11,000 km before reaching Torino on February 10.

A mirror is used to focus sunlight to ignite the flame.

I messed with levels and saturation in Photoshop to give the columns more of an ancient patina.

As a note, Olympia is in the Prefecture of Ilia which is not in the TL dropdown box.

A very interesting place to visit, you do a good composition David, very sharp, i mean its too sharp especialy on the sky. I loved a tone in this pict. regards, regi

Nicely composed shot David. Like the use of portrait mode for the composition. The path leads nicely into the shot. The lighting is just perfect. TFS

Excellent image, great low angle POV moody sky and balanced lighting.
Bravo!

Very nicely done, David, with an interesting POV that gives us a sense of height. The light & colours are great and I really like the beautiful cloudy sky in between the columns. Well done!

David,
Interesting and great compositional point of view on this place. I like very much the shadows going across the ground with the light shining graciously on these ruins. You also captured a great mood with this image and the color palette created in this scene amplifying its presence. I do keep coming back to the possible realization the image is oversharpend. Might look pretty spiffy in b/w also. Good work David!
