The only distracting element is the door(??) in the background that can be seen through the gap between his forearm and shoulder.

as the first try it's a very good try....
I agree with Ashish about the door....
without it the passage from the down heavy part of the image to high light part was more graduate (imho)... but the general impression is very good...

Very good first portrait, Joe, and I hope we will see more from you. Very natural pose and a gorgeous smile with clear sharpness on the eyes (almost can see a twinkle in them). Interesting treatment of his face slowly disparearing as we go up like he is fading away from our memories. Well done!

hello there i am the model for that pic and no it isnt a calagry shirt but i am a hockey fan and never thought that really like this shot. i was surprised when joe asked me to use this photgraph for his collection and i am proud that you have liked it and i am honoured that joe picked me for this shot
