Hi, in my intro I wrote TL is going to be my playground so here is my first "studio kind of" try ever. I bought a black background, put my cam on a tripod, arranged 5 candles around it and waited until it got dark. When it got dark I gave it a try to see that the cam was not focussing correctly, it was all blurred...
So I took a large lamp lighted the scene, set the cam to 10sec selftimer and started the shot. During the 10 sec I put the big lamp away so that light came only from the candles.

Please tell me what you think, in my opinion I have to shoot again, as the reflection on the upper left is too strong and takes a lot of attention. So what is your opinion on that ? Thanks in advance.

Postprocessing in PS6: only a little cropping and the frame.

I think you did great Jan. And you are much more creative then i am when i do my "my-kitchen-is-my-studio-shot". I only use a white bed sheet and the kitchen lamps. Seing your result i think i'll be doing some shoping. The candles has given it a very soft light. It looks like the hart is hangin in mid air. Lovely. You should frame it and give it to your wife/girl friend for valentines day :). You have to admit, it's fun playing inthe "studio" :)

I think your experiment has worked very well, well thought out and executed. The soft lighting has brought out some nice texture and reflection to the object.
The frame works very well also.
Very creative and very well done.

Great result, the soft colours work well against a black background. The multiple light sources was a good choice as it adds something extra to it. Great shot.

What is the heart form? Did I miss something?

Anyway, Jan, this is a very good shot. A very good experiment. I like the effect. My only comment probably is on the composition (which you can address very well next time. Try an uncentered composition. Or just iclude half of the heart. Or put the halves at both ends.

Anyway, my imagination is running wild...sorry.

I like ur photo is really nice, maybe u could try for fun tu use a lamp, and when the camera is taking at the dark u go and iluminate the heart surrounding the corners somethingk like this =)...

I'd say it turned out very nice, Jan (and I think I can count all five candles that you used). It looks stunning against the black background. Wonderfully done, keep on experimenting in the Tangstedt studio :-)

A very beautiful shot, Jan. Both artistic and creative. Since you asked - I don't think that the reflection in the upper left is too strong, but I do prefer the two lower reflections as they are longer and more natural. The top ones are more like spotlights with a focal point. That said, I do think it is a wonderful composition. Well done.

I think your creative lighting skills have worked well. I wouldn't change a thing. The candle glow on the heart is superb against the black background.
Well done, Jan.

Points tomorrow :) ... Done.

I like it. Is it chocolate?

Jan, I am very impressed with your note and the efforts you have been through. I cannot judge the result technically - except to say that I find it unique enough for that to be a justification in itself.
It actually looks like something out of a movie-poster or the cover of a book. And the threedimensional effect is certainly there - together with very elegant soft colours.

Great creative shot Jan.
the colors and refletion are excelent.

Well done

Hi Jan ! I'm happy to see this DX6490 macro shot. You did a very good work to show us this beautiful picture. Also a very interesting lighting trials that increase the texture aspect and the overall silhouette of this beautiful golden heart. Very nice !

excellent work Jan, i like the golden color created. well done!

quite frankly jan I think you did great; the excess of light as you put it goes unnoticed for me... I had to read your note to see it, and even then it is no worry for me. bravo for the creativity and continue the experiments for our sheer pleasure and yours, of course;-))

The multiple light sources work well here. The heart looks like it is coming right off the monitor toward me.

When will you post some more photos?

Nice composition with black background Jan.
Well done!

Your note is very informative. A clever idea to use the lamp to obtain better focus. The result speaks for itself. This is a superb shot. TFS.

Hello Jan.
I really enjoy the creativity you show on this one. I appreciate the huge contrast as well as the colors. The entire coéposition is perfectly balanced. Would you agree me adding it to my theme Golden?
Congratulations.
Luci

Hi Jan,
I like the way the gold color goes out from the dark background and also the lights on the heart.
Good work!
