[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a first for me on the site. I have had a shot at some HPP, I am not very good with Photoshop so don't be too unkind. I did a lot of levels, curves and some usm. Then used the channel mixer to make the shot black and white. I added a tone and finally a frame. Eh voila. I have posted the original as a WS so you can see what a mess I made.

i love the mess you've made Peter and I hope its not the last one. You chose an unusual angle to take the shot and the sky came out dramatic. Good framing.

NO mess here Peter....not even close. More like this is really freakin great in atmosphere and composition. The treatment is extremely successful with the tonal ranges being gorgeous and creating some awesome depth. I would also normally push for more contrast but not here. I love this image. Beautiful Peter beautiful!

I won't be too unkind:-))
This is just wonderful in the way you've created this one, the colour makes a mysterious mood, the compostion is great, it's very nice done, Peter !

Excellent moody photograph for your first post Peter. Your pp work did well with this image. Great job. looking forward to more. TFS
Kevin

Oh, how moody!! I want to go there!! Can I jump into your picture like Mary Poppins? Seriously - great work PP. You processed just enough without going overboard resulting in a loss of image quality. Your image is so sharp, and I love the tone. Thanks for sharing. I am going to go look at your workshop now.

Oh, I almost forgot - I really think you did a good job on the border. I find it very hard to achieve a good border.

very successful post process! I'd love to know how you brought out the details of the sky. Amazing work. Please tell! thanks a heap!

Boy Peter,

This is the stuff nightmares are made of. Very strong.

if this is a first it's a great first...
realy very dramatic...... and very good too....
Paolo

Eh voila ! You have just to follow your instinct to provide the exact contrast and tone going with this great landscape :-))
I like it very much and am just waiting for Sherlock Holmes coming in followed by the Barkerville's dog.
Compliments this is a good work, sure all moors are realy good places for such inspiration.

Well, you might not know much about Photoshop but you have succeeded in creating quite a mood out of a very well composed image - maybe beginner's luck but I think you are showing great talent in knowing when you have achieved your vision. This has a very great dark mood that I think fit really well the trouble history of Scotland. The details you got on the sky is absolutely amazing and your frame works well. Excellent!

And a beautiful mess you did! I love it, very imaginative. An excellent composition, and superb PP work!

A very good PP. The flat color image is very well captured, the transfomation gives otherwise a very strong shot. Good work.

Excellent light, lines, color, and texture. A killer of an image. B

I like the mood of that picture! It's great! The mood is heavy! And when i see the original.. i can tell you give a very good contribution about the mood of it... simply excellent!

Hi Peter
Wow. You have managed to take a somewhat flat, uninteresting image and impart atmosphere and drama to it. Your work with both sky and ground is first rate.

Ah, I'd hang this on my wall. Your PP really paid off here with a very contrasty monotone that sucks you right in with all the fine textures.

Smailholm Tower i presume !, a good image handled well in CS, maybe a shaft of sunlight hitting the tower would finish it off, or how about leaving the historic scotland flag flying in colour???

Rob

I like the atmosphere you've created. Could be used as a cover for a certain Baskerville hound story. Very moody. Well done.

I guess by now you got the message, Peter, but this one really is a masterpiece. The original is good enough ny any standards and would no doubt havr achieved twenty to thirty points. But this one is what photography is all about. Your note gives the impression it was a fluke. Don't be so modest. You must have known you'd hit paydirt with this. In any case - keep fluking.

An excellent job on the PP - gives it some real mood. It is amazing what can be done with what looks at first glance like a fairly ordinary shot in flat light. Give yourself some credit for your photoshop work (-:

My preference would have been to see this in straight monochrome without the sepia, I like monochromes better that way. But that is just a personal preference, not to detract from your work.

Excellent photo and PP work, Peter!
It's amazing how a simple landscape, a simple photograph,
can become a masterpiece!

Thanks for the trouble and sharing!

Whaouu, Scotland like everybody see it ! :)
It's as impressive and spiritual as Stone Edge. Maybe a bit too dark. But I love it, good job Peter !

Such an amazing picture for me, and i like the way u turn it to monochrome

I loved this picture at first sight, but I loved it even more when I saw the original -- and how beautifully you used post processing to enhance this photo! It's so dramatic, especially the clouds. You did an amazing job with the enhancements, but you didn't go overboard. The picture still looks natural. Awesome!
