Just as my son's lacrosse game started, a violent thunderstorm rolled in to town! Every one ran for the shelter of the pavillion. As I stood watching the storm a small light grey cloud came flying by at around 30 miles an hour. I had time to frame only one shot. Unfortunately, I had set my camera for the bright skies that preceded the game and storm, so my image was greatly underexposed.
I decided to manipulate the image in Paint Shop Pro and converted it to grey scale while leaving the flag red, white and blue.
I like the contrast going from the extremely dark clouds with the light cloud framing the flag.
I was shooting at f/9 at 1/500 with ISO 400.
My camera is a Canon Digital Rebel with a Tamron 28-300 zoom. |

Welcome to Treklens Lynn! Very cool shot. I like how the grey cloud kind of outlines the flag and the graininess is a nice touch. I don't typically like centering the subject, but it works well here as the fence on the bottom right offsets the centering nicely. Nice photo!
