[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Spent a little time on this using Nikon Capture software. Any critique welcome.

My brother (DLM) always said this place was great for pictures. I tend to avoid it, as quite often people like to jump off the cliff here. Its actually about the only place for miles that you can see the sun go down over the sea. Perhaps this is the reason they choose this venue.

Note: Just to clarify, its actually a couple embracing on the right. Some people think its one guy.
Many comments suggest the image would be better without but its just a street shot really. I saw the couple and thought they made a picture.

Don't often see so much vertical caught in a sunset picture. Nice touch. The strong colors and extreme contrast tend to intensify the power of the waves. I do think the picture would be better if not for the person being in it, but I'm pretty sure this person is somehow important to you. Nice catch and PP work.

Hi, Nice shot love the colours and mood of the photo. Excellent choice to shutter speed as well. 2 points for me

Wow, such rich colors and tonal effects! I like the contrasts, also. They blend in well.

I have to agree with okcTdawg that the person does not add to the image, because of size for one, and because it detracts from following the natural lines in the shot. What could have been an interesting element if you had wanted to keep the person in, would have been to keep the red top on, and place the person (if at all possible), in that black section just above and behind, and have the person look pensively toward the sun.

Not only a wonderful and fantastic nature you show us,but also you made it poetic by those couple, graet work you did, excellent colors and contrast, great POV,excellent sharpness and congratulation for this admirable result, nicely done,Jeff,

Hi Jeff
It is always a pleasure to work with a 28mm - you get amazing focus depth; and that you have used so well here to detail the immediate rocks in front to the waves afar in the horizon. Well saturated rich colours and a pleasant composition. Love it.

Vous avez une superbe place d'honneur pour admirer ce merveilleux spectacle du soleil et la mer …
Antonio

Belle image bien détaillée. Le personnage n’a pas l'air rassuré, sans doutes à causes des vagues.

Great saturated colours on your shot for this nice place. Nevertheless I agree with okcTdawg regarding the person on the right... In this way, I propose an altered version in the workshop.

Martine

This is a fantastic view! THat place is unbelieveble! THe contrast if the golden light and impressive green tone is fantastic!

You were hanging there in a helicopter!
Deep, horizontal as well verticall (I think).
Great to have a person on the picture. Structures and colours all combine fine.
More splashing water in the direct front would be perfect; you only had to wait for it.
Huub

Wonderfull. Speachless.

Hi Jeff,
This is indeed mazing. I like the Pp you did and I think the slow shutter speed gave made a very dynamic image.
Great colours and wonderful golden tones!

Well done!

take care, Stef :))

All at once awesome and dramatic. The natural scene is seeting with movement. And the lady is hugging her man with real gusto. Her body language speaks to me. You've captured a fine moment Jeff. Well done.

Congrats, very VERY cool pic

Very beautiful!

Cheers,
Carla

Hi Jeff , a nice shot with the best color and cotrast . You did very well .
Have a good time ,
Saman

wonderfull place :-)

Colors and composition are amazing. I don't like the softness, maybe it can be solve with a bit of sharpening. The people only add to the shot to give the dimensions, no problem with that.

Pedro

Hi Jeff

Good note on the photo. I didn´t see that there are two people there either, before I read the note. So, a few thoughts on your photo:

1) First off, as you mention, some people think the image would be better without the couple. On my first viewing, I felt the same way. I don´t know if you had the chanse to take another photo without them, but if you have the opportunity, I would take it. It´s a great setting.

2) Connected to point 1, seeing that you intended for the couple to be a part of the compostion, I would have liked them to play a bigger part. As mentioned, many (myself included) thinks it´s only one person before seeing the note. A few steps closer, and they would be more a part of the photo than they are now.

3) On the composition. I think it´s great. The foreground works very well, leading you all the way through the photo. I think the rocks in the lower left corner is nice addition as well. I also think you´ve got a nice duality / three-part image here, with the duality in the rocks vs. the water and sky, and the three-part with the sky, water, and rocks.

4) The sky. Unfortunately you have some highlights in the sky. If you split the sky part in two, I think about half of it is too light. Whether they´re blown or not I´m not sure. I would either consider darkening the sky (if this works, great), or cropping some of the image from the top. This would also lose some of the rock formations, so it´s a dilemma. Still, with a cropping the sea would have a greater role in the composition, and the sky would be focused on the light from the sunset. I don´t think that would look too bad either (I´d suggest a crop maybe just above the last lighted cloud on the right side of the sky).

5) This is a very sharp photo, and I also think the colors look great. The texture in the rock formations on the right side through the image is nice and keeps that side interesting, while the water and sky takes care of the left side.

Good effort, Jeff. TFS :)

Hi Jeff,

One guy.. haha, I don't see how they could make the mistake of seeing it like that... strange. :P

Very nice image, the area is spectacular... all the textures/colours/levels on the rocky area... and the tone of the image, I think you did some great post processing. Very pleasant shot, tfs. The composition works well too... interesting work.

Biance.

Lovely picture:)

Hi Jeff,

It is a fantastic scene, but it would better that the man was not in the picture.
