Anas in Kellie's Castle again..

I like this particular shot because of the different technique I used. If you notice her hair is shining giving her a well defined head and brings focus to her face.

When I took this picture, the sun is approximately 45 degree behind Anas. Usually in this case the camera will thought that the scene is too bright and automatically selects a higher shutter speed. If you rely on the onboard computer's judgement then you will get an overly underexposed image.

So, what I did was, I configured by camera to use spot metering and aperture priority at the widest setting (in this case F/4.5). Then, I stood near to Anas and see what's the shutter speed the camera would choose (and here it's 1/500 seconds).

After that, I switched the camera to Manual mode and programmed it to these two values. I stepped back and recomposed the picture. Also, I popped up the onboard flash and set the power to -0.3ev.

Oh yeah, this is taken with my Tamron macro lens. Who says macro lens are just for macro shots? ;)

Cool.......

p/s: I shoud've choosen a higher shutter speed as you can see that Anas's beautiful dress is just too bright!

I like this picture and I hope you like it too.

Cheers!

Nice shot, yes i do like it, i think the metering was very close, good choice. The choice of F stop made for a very nice DOF, she is sharp but the back ground is sufficiently blurred to really help make her stand out. I like the angle you chose, makes for a very good composition. TFS

nice masterpiece, and the picture also

DOF could have been a bit more shallow....
attention to details in the background would have avoided the plant sticking out of her head.

Very lovely tones in this one. I would crop down slightly from the top and in from the left. B

Very nice photo YahWen! The light on her head is good as it defines the shape of her head. She also looks like a seasoned model by the body language on the photo. The improvement I can think of is to darken the the background a litlle bit more.

Also, thank you for your comments on my photo, "Legs."
