The fantastic eye contact and the great detail make this a wonderful picture. It may be poor luck, but the fine texture of the grey feathers is an interesting contrast to the nice bright color of the otherwise blurred, out of focus beak. And hat I mean to say is that this nice contrast really works, so it is not a problem that the tip of the beak is out of focus, because it emphasizes the wonderfully blue eye. If you look into the eye, the beak does not seem to be out of focus. If you look at the beak, you feel this urge to look into the eye. Great picture! Goes to my animal theme. The reasons are described there.
