[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was from my first attempt at using my new digital camera. It was taken at the rose garden at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota Florida. The garden has so many beautiful roses but I love the color of this one the best. By the time I started getting use to all the settings on my camera it was mid-day and I did not know how to adjust for the harsh light. But I still like how the rose seems to stand out!

Diane: Your camera is very good and you must have wandered when adjusting the picture to do uploading. Avoid of leaving very centered your main subject. For macros to close the lens the possible maximum. Use of tripod - if possible!

Hi Diane,

Welcome to TrekLens! I see you're a Floridian - my wife ("lilycat" on TL) and I also live in the Tampa Bay area. Nice debut photo of the orange blossom - you've really captured its bright, rich color, especially against the dark background.

You're right that harsh direct sunlight is tough to shoot in, especially close-ups of flowers. I usually try to stand so that I create shade for the flower - the light is plenty bright, but doesn't create the harsh shadows.

I noticed that the image is pretty pixelated, especially noticable in the lower petals. File sizes on TL can be a maximum of 200KB, whereas yours is only about a fourth of that. Take advantage of the full file size!
