I could not help it! We had a wonderful, gentle coastal shower today and by now you know what that means in MY heart! I knew where to look this time. We have huge elephant ear plants that grow taller than the roof and I was delighted to find the many varied and different shapes of the rain drops gathering on the giant leaves, as tho poised there just for me to capture forever before they disappeared forever..... The World of Macro fascinates me as I look at these gorgeous crystal water creations from above and marvel at their normally unseen existence. What a great sadness to miss the beauty of nature.

Taken with my Oly E10, MCON35 Ext, tripod and used soft fill flash. Cropped photo and tried sharpening.. I am still having trouble downsizing and am doing it in steps now. Any suggestions or help, comments would be so much appreciated. Thank you... :O)

Hi Kat, I see you still have a sharpness problem. I guess you just forgot the last sharpen step, or else didn't sharpen enough.
I took your pic, opened with MS PictureIt, applied USM (with standard setting "sharpen more") and saved again (JPEG quality 96 % to keep in the 200Kb limit).
I posted the result as a WS.

The sharpness is only in a part of the picture, that's a pity, it is not easy to get it in a total, I know, practise and practise......I like the green and the marbles of glass rolling on the leafs, the idea is there, Kathleen

Refreshing , I like it..

Hello Kathleen,
a nice raindroppy again. They look like gems on a green seashore, wonderful. I also like that beside the simplicity of this image, you used diagonal motifs.

The waterdrops are beautiful with your sensitivity. The illumination is very good and reflect perfectly the shapes of the drops. Good job!

Kate, this is wonderful! The droplets look like little life forms congregating for some big event. The colors are so vivid, too.

If you have Photoshop, you might try unsharp mask rather than sharpening. That would sharpen the edges of the droplets without creating the fine dotted effect that sharpening can produce. Microsoft's site has a good article regarding sharpening digital images; even if you don't use Windows, the principles apply.

Maybe you lose sharpness or "luster" in the uploading. Sometimes that happens. This is agreat shot and reminds me of how I wish rain droplets would bead on the hood of my car due to a new wax job! There is something fascinating about raindrops, isn't it?

j'aime toujours voir des macros de gouttes après la pluie sur des plantes ou fleurs....je trouve tellement beau la structure...les couleurs et la netteté sont tres bien rendue sandpiper...belle composition...amicalement BI
