Another shot from this homestead out in the Badlands of North Dakota.

This was one of our many stops on out statewide photo tour a few weeks ago. It has since become too cold for that sort of travel, and the snow has been here for a while.

I made a few versions of this, and I like the sepia tone the best. A black and white version can be seen here.

Taken with an EOS 20D, 28-90mm lens at sunset.

Hello Brain,
Looks good , looks really good. I think the sepia looks great. Feeling of nostalgia of what once might have been a happy home.

very nice tones brian :)
very moody composition

Hello Brian,
Amazing capture... Spooky... Convincingly done! Post processing enhancing the mood... The story without words works fine with me!

Nice relaxing praire shot - love the serenity and history behind these buildings that protected many pioneers. Composition, POV and your choice of Sepia make this a very nice photo.

Nice composition, Brian! I like how we can see through the house in different places. The focus of your shot is on the house; one could also make more room for the prairie to create a different atmosphere. Good transfer to sepia, although I do prefer the B&W version. Good job!

Oh.......the choice for sepia was a good choice,it give a warm side to this sad but so beautiful picture......
Very well composed....
I like it too much....
Have a good day
Claude

Sorry - not much time to add much of a note - but very nice picture

Great composition in a landscape that looks so unreal.

Jos

Hi Brian,
very nostalgic and beautiful shot. I checked the B&W, and I like it very much too. Great job, congratulations!

Nice composition here Brian and your choice of a sepia tone really works well. It looks really remote there. TFS

Brian, great shot, compo, sepia, etc. The thing that makes it for me is the POV, in three areas the light shines straight through the house, that lifts the photo immeasurably as those lights drag the eye around the photo. Paul.

Very good capture, Brian. I like how the light is seen through the house as it gives us a true feel of abandonment. I think I prefer the B&W version even if this one is good too. The sky is amazing and the inclusion of the pylone at the back adds to the composition. Excellent!

great composition and balance...by far one my favorite photos of yours...i prefer the sepia tone over the black and white...it just looks older and seems to fit better...the simple thin black frame is a great addition...peace***

HI BRIAN!
You caught all the mood that this picture and scenery could offer! The POV is amazing as are the colors!
Congratulations.
Luci

Greetings Brain.

This sepia version look really great! gives it a very old and at the same time timeless picture. The House is magnificent and so full of history and details! The mill in the back gives the image good depth and clouds adds some life to it.!

Perfect!

Hi Brian,
Just saw this pic, it's stunning! Love the composition and the windmill on the right. Also really like the choice of sepia tones, gives a very nostalgic feel. Well done and TFS :-)
Cheers Tina

Great shot... But it would be better if it is b&w

I love the monotone treatment and the minimal composition. Bill
