Trying out a macro lens that Santa left me...

I have also posted a different 'Bracken' image on my TE account today.

The word bracken is Norse in origin, and is related to the Swedish word bräken, meaning fern.

Bracken grows large triangular fronds and tend to form tall dense thickets.
The roots can travel a metre or more underground between fronds.
Individual fronds may grow up to 2.5 m long.
In cold environments bracken is deciduous. It requires well-drained soil, due to this it is generally found growing on the sides of hills.

The following link details some of the less desirable aspects of the Bracken (poisonous and cancer inducing).

Yes, I like what you did. It was clever use of DOF. Nice composition. Well done.

Hi Stephen, I like the composition here with the background form reflecting the foreground subject. I've found with Macros that you really need to shoot at the smallest aperture to get any real DOF.
Take care,
Paul

Hi Stephen, great nature macro shot and good note ! Fantastic image.
