Wow, I love the expression on this old and worn face. Hand in position. And still keeping an eye on things. Love the warm and earthy tones. Great shot!
Excellent portrait with lovely tones Edwin. I'm surprised you used the 1.4ext unless you were pretty far away. Well done. B

Undisputed top quality in all respects.
I will have to return later with a reward for you - all out.

Very nice picture, good crop and great look of this old Himba woman
Man, this is one of the nicest portraits I have seen on TL this year. The skin is just beautiful, the expression is just so eloquent, the colors are great, the background is perfect. Crop and compo flawless. That is, as far as I can judge... The type of photo that brings a preson so close to me that all of a sudden I experience kinship and not something exotic. The best thing that can happen. Goes to favs.
PS: Moved it to my "Portraits to learn From" theme. Learning point: An unwilling (uncooperative, uninterested, etc.) model can be still represented in a meaningful and dignified way.

Hello Edwin,
I've just come to "discover" your portofolio here ... I'm amazed by your outstanding selection of portraits here!!! My compliments!
This one here is just superb in any way, the composition, the details, the colours ....
I also like the way she looks at his strange man operating with that strange machine in front of her ... tells a story by itself.
Great work!
Thanks for sharing

hello Owo
i love pictures of the experienced world Aboriginal people. They are usually the ones who let themselves be fotographed. In this one, i dont see her allowing you to do that. Yes it is a beautiful picture, the tones are all hers and you have presented her in a wonderful light. Perhaps on a good day, even she will like this picture.

Hi Edwin,
it is hard to get in contact with these old Himbas. I lived for a longer time in Namibia, but except the children you can´t get any response. Like the Bushmen they are not interested in white people. Even the language they are not willing to learn.
Considering the past and the history I understand the doubts of these Himba tribe. They have been defrauded by several colonial power and actually by their own black government which wants to "steal" the land in the name of development by building a big dam into the Kunene region. The entire ancestral area of the Himbas will be flooded, their nomad villages, their graveyards, their places of worship the grazing areas of their cattle.
Cheers
Michael
