My Owl

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Stuffed but not moth-eaten as this photo might make him seem. He was photographed at the Museum of Natural History on the University of Minnesota Minneapolis Campus. No tripods allowed, so ISO was high (1600) to make a handheld shot possible. It wasn't what I wanted but his eyes were fascinating so I took him into Photoshop, took him apart using the magic wand and lasso tools and placed him on a gradient background. When I put the frame on, I found I had created an unintensional optical illusion. The grey is the same color all the way around, it just looks lighter next to the dark background and vise versa next to the light.

Good stuff - nice experiment that works well and messes with the mind.
Chris
My mind doesn't need any more messing with than it already has been BUT I take this one on board with pleasure.
Hard crit: Eyes need to dominate. The previous one had it, this one a lot less. 8/10.
Very cool, Lois! Are you sure the gray is the same?! ;) I really like what you created here. The owl is in the form of a bat!
Gayle :)
