 Background and Lighting | DiaAzul
(80) [2005-05-13 23:51:47] [2] | All the following were done in Photoshop CS2...
1/Duplicate the background layer, select the background and delete it.
2/On the background layer use the healing brush to clone out the marks in the background.
3/Between the background layer and the duplicate layer insert a solid colour fill layer, the same colour as the background in the image. Adjust opacity of this layer such that the background image is smoothed out, whilst still leaving some texture in the image.
4/On the duplicate layer adjust brightness/contrast, hue/saturation to lighten the flowers.
5/Merge layers together and then apply the lighting filter to add a spot lighting effect. |

 Shadow, highlight | DiaAzul
(80) [2004-11-17 18:10:11] [4] | I like the original, though find the shadows loose too much detail. Here is my attempt to try and find a balance between the lighting of the original and retaining some shadow detail.
Technique is as follows:
Shadow/Highlight to compress dynamic range
Hue/Saturation to warm up cathedral a little (shift yellow a couple of points to orange and a couple of points of saturation)
A bit of curves to increase contrast in the sky
Et voila, comme un chef dans une restaurant, la poisson est arrivé. |
