 Levels & curves | Dingo

In this shot I zoomed in a bit more: 38 mm i.o. the 31 mm I used in the original post. |

 sunset (1) dilekdile (64) |

(11958) [2009-09-18 13:47:35] [2] | First of all: set the horizon level.
Then cropped more from top, left and a wee bit from the bottom to get the sun on the left 1/3rd vertical line, decentering it.
Compensated for the loss of dimension by adding a little frame; in general, strong coloured shots like this sunset "need" a neutral frame to detach it from TL's own background colour...
Just my idea, of course. |

 Mainly sharpened | Dingo
(11958) [2009-05-01 07:04:22] [1] | Cropped a wee bit.
I used an adjustment layer for curves to deepen shadows and lighten the highlights a little bit, then used another copy in a layer with "overlay" blending mode to apply the High pass filter with a radius of 1.5 pixels to enhance sharpness.
Created a small frame to detach the green hues from tl's backdrop.

Fons

 Another crop | Dingo
(11958) [2009-04-12 14:30:24] | As Jan(neman) suggested, the wall is a bit distracting.
So I used the base shot with all adjustments of the main post, just cropped it differently.
Which version do you prefer?? |

(11958) [2009-01-17 04:10:09] [2] | Hi Grace
- cropped the picture with some correction of the perspective distortion.
- rotated it to set the vertical lines straight; so some more cropping was necessary
- added adjustment layers for levels and curves; especially the levels needed tweaking to get more contrast in the shot
- added a small frame to detach the picture from tl's backdrop
Hope you like it...

Crop, partial blur, curves | Dingo
(11958) [2009-01-17 03:41:18] [1] [+] | Hi Wilt
As I wrote in the crit, to me the top part is a bit disturbing, especially the brighter green.
So I started by cropping off most of that (and your thin black frame as well).
Then I selected the remaining water with a feather of 2 px, and applied 3,5% of Gaussian blur on it.
To detach the picture from TL's background I downsized a bit more and added a neutral frame.
Finally I used a wee bit of curves to boost contrast on the hulls.
As opposed to what I wrote in my crit, I decided to leave the bright spots in the bl corner. Cloning them out created a big dark part in that corner and it didn't look good to me...

 Another view | Dingo
(11958) [2008-12-23 11:24:04] | Here I waited for someone to pass by in front of the tree. 1/15", f/3.5, no IS, handheld, so some motion blur was bound to be inevitable.
I like the effect, as the moving persons add some dynamism to the otherwise static shot. |
