To have a "straight line of view" plans were made to demolish the buildings in front of it. Glad they didn't! |

 A different view | Dingo
(11717) [2008-06-21 04:01:32] | | This is the full frame image, I like the space it has - but when downsized to 760 pixels, there's no detail left in the building so I cropped the one to post closer around the Erechtheion. |

(11717) [2008-06-19 15:35:54] [5] | As said in my crit, Silke.
I made this ws not to improve what you did, but to show you how I would present it...
Extracted the picture and put it in a new layer. Removed it from the backdrop to retain the frame.
Selected the pic layer, rotated via the transform layers tool. Then selected the edges, removed the walls you used as boundaries, inverted the selection and deleted the pixels inside.
Then restored the drop shadow and stroke, but I used a black outer line instead of a white one.
Adjustment layers for levels and curves, on top of that I also used the shadows/highlights too (0/3). I like what this combination did to the overall colour saturation, but perhaps it's a bit too much... |

Shadows & highlights, curves | Dingo
(11717) [2008-06-15 07:01:47] [1] | Hi Babujayan
As said, I thought your shot was a bit too dark.
I used the shadows (+10) & highlights (+10) tool to make it lighter, then a wee bit of curves to enhance the contrast a bit.
I hope you like it. |

 Shadows & highlights | Dingo
(11717) [2008-06-15 06:20:38] [2] | As said, Silke, the wall behind Len's head is a bit overexposed.
I selected the picture and copied it to a new layer to keep your frame unchanged.
On the top layer I applied shadows (0) and highlights (40).
This turned Len's face quite dark, so I used the history brush on it, taking the original background layer as its source.
The ws version was saved in a quality of 9/12 (but I started with much lesser pixels than you did, obviously...) |

(11717) [2008-06-13 14:59:41] [1] | Tracy, as written in my critique, the sunset colours look a bit flat to me.
Even though I know you like "au naturel", using CS3 I:
1. added adjustment layers for levels, curves and colour balance. Levels: middle slider: 0.8 instead of 1.0, this causes a mild underexposure; curves: a slight enhancement of the contrast. This made the red lens flare in the tree disappear. Colour balance: added +20 red to warm up the colours.
Cloned out some bright pixels in the silhouettes.
What do you think?
Like you, I prefer au naturel. But sometimes we have to help our camera come up with what we want. Some pre-processing (white balance » cloudy, exposure compensation -1 to -2) should be made before actually shooting... |

(11717) [2008-06-11 11:45:49] | In this version I cropped off the wee bit of Cape Sounio that is visible in the full frame image.
Please let me know which one you prefer, and why... thanks! |
