Hi Els!
Lovely pics you took on the islands, but... so light!
I understand that it's quite difficult to shoot pics over there, coz the light is so very different from what we are used to.
Anyways, I like this one so I thought I'd try a workshop on it.
First of all I darkened it in 3 different layers!!! then I leveled the horizon (didn't want my computer to get wet! hahah)
and last but not least I sharpened the image just a bit and cropped off the white edges (from leveling)

I do hope you like what I did here.
I was stunned anyway to see there is still so much information left in the image. Just look at the wave and the beach!

Cheers!

Hey Mike,
I hope you like what I did to your image.
I realy do like your picture and I wanted to do something to "mask" the unsharpness.

Converted it to Sepia and then used the DreamSuite filter to achieve a romantic blur.
Added a brown frame, which I blurred and faded...

I hope you like the result.

Cheers,
Anneke

Hi Arie,

Here's what I did in Photoshop:
first of all leveled the horizon, then lightened the image a bit and added some saturation.
Then.. selected the sky and replaced it with a sky that I nicked from the net...

I do hope you like what I did...
Cheers,

So... this is what the original image looks like!
A nice castle, but a bit dull I'm afraid.

Hi Sandra,

I wanted to show you my version of your leave.
When I look at your leaves the image feels like a real sunny and almost "summer" picture, which is good!
In my version, which I just darkend, it feels more like autumn...

My dark version is absolutely not better than yours, it's just a different approach and a different view!

I hope you like this,
cheers,
Anneke

Ok Colin, here's what I did:
In photoshop I selected the brush tool and in the top menu I set the mode to "color burn" and 11% opacity (you can use a higher percentage, but the "burning" will be less subtile then).
Now I click in the light areas to darken them... and in fact that's all!

Now to sharpen: I set the Image, mode to LAB color... in the Channels I selected the "a" channel and I blurred it to about 6...
Set the Image, mode back to RGB and you're done.
The sharpening is quite subtile, that prevents white lines and squares in your photo.

I hope this is of any use to you.

By the way, if you set the Brush tool's mode to "color dodge" you will be able to lighten areas that are too dark.

Cheers!

Voor Bram.
Toen ik je berichtje las en de foto nog eens bekeek wist ik dat je helemaal gelijk hebt!
Bij deze!

Reading Bram's message and looking at the pic again I knew he was absolutely right! I needed to crop this one.
View the result!

Alice,
I slightly lightened your image in Photoshop:
ctrl + j (to copy the image in a new layer)
set the layer to Screen to lighten it and set the "fill" percentage to 45.
Merged the layers to one again
Then I added some saturation and sharpened just a tiny bit.

I hope you like this.
The difference is not very big, but this is what I meant by the image being a bit too dark....

Cheers,
Anneke

So.... cannot exactly recall what I did, but I know I wanted to keep this as natural as possible... After all I did shoot this image almost straight into the sun and that makes the light so much different.

I must say that I like the results...
Hope you do too!

Cheers,
Anneke
