Life on the Edge – 192 metres high

These walkers are on the Walkway and I'm in the Restaurant taking photos.

We are 192 metres above the ground.

Note the ropes dangling on the left of the Tower - they are the guiding ropes used when someone bungy-jumps off the ledge.

Onuku Marae

Ōnuku Marae is the marae of Ōnuku Rūnanga, one of the five Papatipu Rūnanga of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu located on Horomaka. The takiwā of Ōnuku Rūnanga centres on Ōnuku and the hills and coasts of Akaroa it adjoins Te Rūnanga o Koukourarata and Wairewa Rūnanga.

Today the marae is booked for use for eight to nine months of the year. Its peaceful location and idyllic surroundings away from the city make it ideal for meetings and conferences. Every second weekend the marae is reserved for the use of Ōnuku whānau.

The small, simple church at Onuku, across the road from the marae, is one of the country's most beautifully sited historic buildings.

Ōnuku Marae is a five kilometre meandering drive from the Akaroa township towards the heads of Akaroa Harbour.

There was quite a lot of reflection on the window, but I quite like this image.

Note number 1 and 3 are holding on tightly to their ropes, while the last man and the 2nd and 4th ladies look quite nonchalant!!

The guide was so relaxed!!!

I live in the far distant area behind them.

This shows you how close they are to the Observation Restaurant. It was very interesting to see them walking along the track beside us - about 3 metres away.
There was a lot of reflection on the windows too.

Hi Janice,
I liked this one and thought that it might look also fiting in b&w. Ghanged to b&w, reduced noise, sharpened and contrasted a little fore and background. Have a beautiful day,
