 Hey Presto | Janice
(27433) [2008-05-15 01:39:00] | This is quite a plain plant - a silver grass - photographed a few years back.
It was fun working on it and giving it a bit of life. |

 Highlights and shadows | tomek_wap
(4583) [2008-05-14 12:26:06] [1] | Hi,
Just thought of a small experiment here.
Your original photo brings too much brightness to the eye.
Thought how to make it look better or different if that's what you rather call it ;-)
Added quite a lot of shadows and highlights.
Shadows to make the bright sky/view darker, and highlights to enhance the bottom part, and make all the other details more visible and recognizable.
Although the sky now looks very odd for a natural photograph, you could now call it a "gentle" painting.
Let me know what you think.

 Playing Chess | Janice
(27433) [2008-05-11 00:47:50] | This outdoor chess board is on Cathedral Square, and there's always someone playing it, even at night.
I don’t understand chess, but there were many onlookers who seemed to know the moves. |

The Church in Cheviot | Janice
(27433) [2008-05-08 01:19:12] | This is the Knox Presbyterian Church in Cheviot, rebuilt in 1966.
The foundation stone of the new Knox Church came from the foundations of the Cheviot "Mansion House" and the bell, which hangs in the new Church tower and had formerly hung in the old Church, was once the Cheviot Hills Station bell, one of Canterbury’s largest 19th-century properties. |

(27433) [2008-05-01 01:38:02] | The Poor Knights lily is a flax like plant with large bottlebrush flowers that grow horizontally. Bright red flowers grow upward from the stalk, with bright orange pollen.
See the flower is now dead. |
