* a bit of levels to enhance contrast
* small amount of usm and finally a simple black frame
I made your original photo more blueish with colour balance to make more contrast then used gradient map with the combination of orange and blue!

I like JPs idea of the abstract look. It probably wasnt what you intended to do but I thought it was worth a try. Cloned out the white patch ...Also I did Contrast +20 and Brightness -20 and adjusted Curves to enhance the impression of a caged feeling of the horizontal bars ... Finally added the border.
