The mood of the subject appears to change, as the more black relates to more dark thoughts.
I placed two variations on the same canvas to illustrate the different feelings we get from observing a darker and a lighter variation.

I also converted to B&W and used curves in Photoshop to increase the contrast.

I then adjusted the color balance a little. Just eyeballed it and did it by hand. The original has a bit of a green cast. I boosted the stauration by 15 and adjusted the lightness down a little (can't remember how much). Finally I used the burn tool quite heavily on the white soaps to bring back some of the detail.
Hope you like the result. It's a little datker but the colors are deeper.
