I liked you photo very much, but would like to see it as pure B&W.
Used Channel Mixer and Monochrome option. Played a little with the color layers to get the contrast that I believe was the best for the shot.
Hope you approve and rate.
Cheers,
Wellington

 Brightness adjusted | OWO
(2335) [2007-12-29 07:16:25] [+] | After reading the critique of GreenBaron that the initial photo was too dark i adjusted brightness.
I see his point; the pic was too dark. I think the WS is a better one.
Feel free to disagree.. |

A lot of various unsharp masks | Dpbours
(2066) [2007-12-22 12:32:26] [1] [+] | I made a number of unsharp mask actions. An action is like a macro. You can record it and play it later on. It's a second tab in the history menu.
I started with an USM+Dark action:
unsharp masking of 150%, 0.3 pix radius and 0 treshold. Then edit - fade to mask at 100% opacity and towards 'darker'.
After that an USM+Light option:
Unsharp masking of 150%, 0.3 pix radius and 0 treshold. Then edit - fade to mask at 100% opacity and towards 'lighter'.
The first one contrasts the dark areas, the second one works on the lighter areas.
After that the curves option. I set the white point in the white of the eye and the dark point in the shadow of the head. Those are the points that set my minimum + maximum tone. All other tones are now set to these reference points.
Last a final unsharp masking of 30%, 0.3 pix and 0 treshold. Hope you like the result! |

 Different frame. | perryhooter
(25940) [2007-12-20 15:15:34] [2] | As the sunrise is coming out of darkness , instead of brightness, I proposeyou a little WS.
No alteration to the scene . Just changed the frame. Also kept the title color warm ( sample from the bay water instaed of bright white ) . Again to emphasize the morning light mood.
Hope you will find it useful.
Cheers!

 Alternative 1 | frank
(762) [2005-09-04 07:59:16] [1] | I did a levels correction (just brightened the midtones) and did some unsharp mask (minimum radius, medium setting, low threshold)
I hope you like it, if you prefer your original version please be honest about it. Personally I think that the added sharpness is definitely better, but concerning the brightness, I feel that your version is more sombre, broodier, has maybe more atmosphere, mine is brighter, making the foreground more attractive, but maybe it is too cheerful for your taste...
Cheers
