| Intro: | I live in Tasmania, Australia's island state, a small island off the south coast of Victoria. My photography is purely a hobby. I purchased my first digital camera in August of 2004. Favourite photographer - the late Peter Dombrovskis, Peter was an environmentalist with a deep love of Tasmania, and his photographs were instrumental in the conservation of Tasmanian wild places, including the prevention of the damming of the Franklin River. He died in 1996 while photographing in the Western Arthur Range in southwest Tasmania. In 2003 he was inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum - the first Australian to be accorded this honour. "When you go out there you don't get away from it all, you get back to it all. You come home to what's important. I was surprised that there were not as many foggy shots as I thought there were. Update 22.03.2007 If only...we could welcome new members without being so critically rude If only...we could remember that images will appear differently on CRT, LCD and laptop monitor If only...we could take the time to look at the specifications of a camera before making comments If only...we could realise that not everyone has or can afford an imaging program If only...we took the time, what a far better world we would live in. Update 16.06.2006 I originally joined this site as a way of showing to others some of the photos of my state of birth (Western Australia) and my new home here in Tasmania. Photos of WA may be in short supply until my next trip back west. I will continue to load images which I think are worthy regardless of 1/3rds, cropping or PP work. So for me a ‘Brand New Day’… | |
