(23588) [2008-03-27 06:36:33] | | To remove the distracting jeep, I simply cloned a bit of sky and an edge of the dune and painted over the jeep. The same could be done with the fellow whom you have cut off at the edge of the image -- just clone sand and paint him over. Let the girls really shine on their own as they obviously did. |

 Shadow/Highlight et al | Silke
(23588) [2008-03-24 13:36:11] [4] | The first thing I did was to use Image > Adjustments >Shadow/Highlight in PhotoShop. with that I was able to bring out a little more detail in the sky.
With the sky brightened, I could recrop it so that I had a tree to create a nice framing device on the left while trying to keep the moon as close to the "Powerpoint" as possible.
Then I smoothed out a few jaggies (digital residue) in the sky by selecting those areas with my magic wand and my lasso and applying a smart blur filter of 3 pixel radius (These jaggies would have been less of a problem working with a larger image (like your original).
Great posting,
Hope you like the changes

 Highlight/Shadow et al | Silke
(23588) [2008-03-24 06:24:41] [3] | The first step to getting details in the snow is to use the Highlight/Shadow adjustments in Photoshop -- Image >Adjustments > Highlight/Shadow.
As you can see both the snow and the clouds show up better.
To add even more, you can select the sky and clouds and adjust the levels for those alone (that adds more colour too).
Finally I put back a little more luminance in Image > Adjustments > Match colour
I hope you like the result |

(23588) [2008-03-18 15:31:28] | Hi Hans
I thought about what you said and did a very quick workshop. When I assembled the original, I wanted the upward pointing trumpet of the angel and Lester's downward pointing sax in opposite frames. so that was the deciding factor. I rearranged the panels for you and I have to admit, I much prefer the first version, The heavy dark wall to the right of the angel diminishes the composition , I think and the artist now seems more broken up. But that is MY opinion,
What is yours?? |

warm filter, luminance, desaturate | Silke
(23588) [2008-03-15 10:03:16] [3] | Hello Mustafa
I wanted to give her skin a bit more natural look so I applied a warm filter at 50% density, then desaturated the whites of her eyes and finally increased the luminance.
I hope you like the result

 clone and blur | Silke
(23588) [2008-03-14 16:32:32] [5] | HI Karen
I thought I'd try to get rid of part of the BG here for you.
What I did was to carefully draw around the girls with the lasso so that nothing would affect them. Then I sampled part of the white wall and carefully cloned it over top of the graffiti, the grey cement and the painted wall, to keep it all uniform. I used the blur tool to soften the effects.
What do you think of the result? |

Out of bounds Framing | Silke
(23588) [2008-03-12 12:57:08] [1] | I thought the flower might stand out a little more so I added an out of bounds frame
To do this I copied the whole image onto another layer, used the marquee tool to draw a box, selected the area outside the box and painted it black
Then I made a third layer copying the original into that and simply erased all of the BG that covered the black framing.
Final step: flatten and post
Hope you like the result
