Certainly no offense was meant by saying the pic was unlevel, but visually the post that is center, right next to the black area was not straight, causing a tilt in my eyes.
I redid the pic, levelling vertically. Could be just a lens distortion. So sorry I could not duplicate your framing very well.

Shadows & highlights

As said, Silke, the wall behind Len's head is a bit overexposed.
I selected the picture and copied it to a new layer to keep your frame unchanged.
On the top layer I applied shadows (0) and highlights (40).
This turned Len's face quite dark, so I used the history brush on it, taking the original background layer as its source.

The ws version was saved in a quality of 9/12 (but I started with much lesser pixels than you did, obviously...)

Yes indeed -- we put candles on our tree and here I think you can see how safe it is. Every candle is placed carefully so that it is never below another branch and it is anchored to the branch with a special clip that locks onto the branch as well as onto the candle and has a little cup to catch dripping wax
