I converted mine using the RGB channels. I also added several layers of curves with different masks.

A bit of a quick and dirty job to show a different composition. I croped the photo so the main flower is less centered. I cloned out the flowers in the top and left.
I feel there is less distraction from the main subject.

I hope you like the result.

Set black and white point in levels and back up on both a small bitt so that both highlights and shadows would stay in good condition. Set a cruve on highlights for the sky by masking the water.

Ofcourse all can best be done in a full version of the photo i.o. this compressed TL version

Nothing against Tom and nothing against the beauty of the photo. But After reading several of the other critiques on this photo I was a bit surprised about the mentioning of the great sharpness. I actually felt it could use some more.

AS I mentioned in my critique, I was impressed with the good choise of PP. I did feel that the composition was a bit too centered and that especially the right part didn't add enough to the composition. So the reason for a different crop. I also noticed the purple hue in the lighted area. By desaturating blue and magenta the color became neutral.

I wanted to bring out more details in the darker FG area of the photo. I did this by using a curves adjustment layer where I set a cruve in highlights. I masked the sky and sea since I only wanted the landbase areas and the photographer to be lighter. I also did a really small correction on the horizon and sharpened the photo with USM (100%, 0.6px)

Hoi Kristy,
Even snel een WS gedaan om te laten zien dat je de aanpassing ook later kan doen. In levels de hooglicht schuif naar links geschoven. Daarnaast een curve gemaakt met veel in het hooglight en een klein beetje in de schaduw partij.

It is best to do this either in camera or when converting from RAW, but if needed, it can be done in your PP work.

Curves adjustment layer: On RGB; moved the blue midtones down, so more yellow is added.
Selective colors adjustment layer. Less blue and cyan colors.

I feel this is more a realistic view.
