this is the second picture I used for the center piece. It was a close-up of exposed roots, filtered through polar coordinates, some areas were then restored with the history brush. The result was then spherized, spotlight added and a small lensflare added in the center.

skew and crop

this is a different shot, taken a couple of hours before the posted one. I skewed the tilt to straighten, then cropped some off the bottom and side. There was bright sun from the right, so I applied a blue filter and blended it in with a soft brush to match the left side.
