(4272) [2007-08-25 17:45:06] | Just to show you the mushroom-hats and the floppy paper.
The huge square used to be a dock, but was filled up during the last century. Most of the time/place it is used as a public parking lot, but they can even afford to host "small" events like a circus, and on the yearly fair, the cars will have to park elsewhere.
Cobblestones are a bit of a trademark for the-old-continent. Quite apprehensible, because they'll last for ages. But they were never meant to stand on for hours ! This takes years of practise. Apparantly this crowd are so well adjusted they can stand there in all kind of footwear. |

(4272) [2007-05-20 18:29:26] | (explanatory note to my posting)
As one can see, the event was quite popular. A large crowd was attracted and waited patiently to be admitted for the trainride.
In the picture one can see clearly the top level that used to be the only one, the level underneat, previously used for storage and maintenance, and the two newly dug out stories, the first one giving access to some more end-tracks, and on the lowest level the "pass-through" tracks for the HST (High Speed Train) between Paris and Amsterdam. Above all that the dome where the maintenance man were seated on the top ledge. |

(4272) [2007-02-18 20:27:06] [1] | Corrected tilt (I used the horizontal stones of the pillars of the arches as a horizontal guideline, as they are more or less at eye-level. The remaining "tilt" is pure perspective)
Added some contrast.
Added different frame. |

(4272) [2006-09-09 15:48:47] [2] | Rotated the picture to line up the horizontal lines.
Covered the empty space created by rotation.
Using PS7 applied Auto-level + Auto-color.
Applied my favorite trick to boost saturation (gaussian blurred copy blended with original setting poor light) |

(4272) [2006-08-26 11:39:15] [2] | Cropped away the dark part on the right (for it was dull coloured, and for a better placement of the subject in the frame)
Copied layer, applied gaussian blur 10px. Blended with former layer using setting cover at 70%. |
