Here's the post-processing:
1. Select entire photo
2. Apply slight unsharp mask
3. Select the main flower with the magnetic lasso
4. Select the Inverse of the selection (the background)
5. Darken the background using the "Enhance/Adjust Brightness and Contrast/Levels" menu

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 for most of my post processing, such as this workshop. I hope this helped-it's only a minor suggestion that helps you to "set off" your subject and draw the viewer's eye directly to the pansey. Thanks again for the great photo!

According user eduogawa I cropped the photo to be full of pipes and gives a B&W tones, using option desaturate from Photoshop.
