Despite warm up photofilter in PS, and using Velvia vision, it has a cool blue look to it that I don't like much. Probably a by product of polarisation in camera.

Following advice from Korbee and X-Ray, I have gone back to this one, and darkened the sky.

I used the gradient tool in Photoshop, set to "colour burn" at 20%, and ran it over the sky area, twice.

I also increased the saturation of the buildings to make them stand out a little more.

I think it's better, what say you guys ?

1. I thought a little tighter crop would help.

2.Using NeatImage I very slightly reduced the noise so it would not be a problem later when sharpening.

3.Uisn Photoshop, I decreased the brightness quite a bit, and increased the contrast very slightly.

4. The bird still looked a little pale for my own taste so I used the burn tool to darken it breast and wings a little.

5. Sharpened it some.

What do you think? It's all so subjective, so one person's perference may certainly not be yours!

1. Slight crop from left to make it more square.

2. Used Neatimage to remove noise from background.

3. Increased contrast and density over all.

4. Used the select tool in photoshop to select just the red rugs and increase their saturation.

5. Sharpened and added a frame.

What do you think............?

Regarding Snaphappy's comment - This is the original version stright from the camera. As you can see this is lighter and less saturated than the posted version. I adjusted the levels, and saturation a little, and used the burn tool to darken the background. Whether or not you agree with this approach is down to personal taste I suppose...but if your original is a bit washed out, you can certainly improve it this way.

1. crop off border.

2. Select sky area and adjust levels, Hue/Saturation & brightness/contrast. All to make the sky more detailed and more blue.

3. "Select Inverse" and adjust Hue & Saturation of land to make colours stronger.

4. Dodge dark areas of breakwater to bring back details that were lost in step 3. Then sharpen land area only.

5. Use Neatimage to remove noise in the sky that was created by step 2.

6. Replace border.

Hope you like it Aleksandra !
