I hope you won't be offended by this - I just thought, after Hans' comment, that I might try to darken the sky just a little.
In PSE6, I used the gradient tool from top to bottom to darken the sky a little. Then I thought that some opf the shadows ere a bit dark so I used Darken Highlights/Lighten Shadows further to darken some light bits of the sky and to lighten some of the shadows in the trees.
Then a tiny bit of adjustment of the colours to brighten up the grass a little. And a tad of sharpening in Unsharp Mask.
I hope I've not totally destroyed your picture. See what you think, Peter.

(4087) [2006-01-08 10:38:05] | I know this has precious little to do with what you saw and shot and it is not an attempt to "improve" on your original. But it is for me an interesting exercise to turn a normal fairly grey picture into something very colourful just by enhancing the edges and saturating the colours. If it were a painting of that scenery I think it would be more like this. But as a photo yours is of course much more subtle and realistic.

Your snap is amazing.. Just did a Crop to reduce the bare n blue sky on the top. Feel this gives more even ness to the snap albeit not very different.
Haven't done any other PP.
