First I patched up the background and lightened it a little. Than I adjusted some contrast and sharpness (unsharp mask), levels! Finally added a brownish tone of colour! I've worked on two layers, one with 60% opacity!
I made your original photo more blueish with colour balance to make more contrast then used gradient map with the combination of orange and blue!

First, I select the area which was a little hazy and giving the selection a fairly huge feather (about 20 or 30) to blurr the edges of the working area
Used brightness and contrast to level the colours! Than add some sharpen and frame! :)

I didn't want to do the same as Lorenzo, but the compo is so good that I had to make it my way! :))
I used 3 layers...
1 Original desaturated
2 One with the leaf on it
3 Original with Magenta and Yellow tuned on !
Top layer is the one with the leaf
Than the brownis one with 40% opacity!!! And the result is this! :)
