Hi Jean, it was a very difficult image for B&W conversion and am not sure it's much improved if any.
firstly I cropped a little from the top so the OE sky was not too much a distraction and also a little from the right side of the frame as a bag was showing hanging from a post. I resized, and converted to B&W via channels, I used setting +60 on the blue and +40 on the red and -5 on constant, I was a little dissapointed that the sliders sis'nt make too much of a difference, however, I duplicated layer and used overlay and opacity at around 30%, finally a little burning on the walls in the foreground to give it a darker gloomier type look and a little dodging on the lady in the foreground. Oh and a trademark white border, sometimes I feel a white border brings out the tones even more in a B&W conversion. Hope you like it Jean.

regards Dean.

Hi Gilles

Hope you dont mind, after your reply I thought i'd do this W/S for you.

First of all I cloned out the bush in the bottom right corner in Photoshop, then increased contrast by pulling the dark slider of the levels tool back to where it should be, that in turn increased the contrast, finally added a black border using the stroke tool to frame these wonderful balloons.

Hope you like it.

duplicated layer, multiplied and set opacity at 50%, duplicated again and set opacity at 25% then finally neat imaged on a strong setting to get a bit motion in the clouds and slightly resharpened.

Let me know what you think.

Just opened up levels and adjusted the sliders accordingly, adding a bit more red and a little less blue!

Hi Martha, dont usually do workshops but I just could'nt resist with this one.

I duplicated the image, applied channel mixer (mono) red = -50
green = -50
blue = +200
I then went to layers and clicked on Multiply and set opacity to about 40%. I then repeated the process and finally USM and added a yellow tone through variations.
Hope you like it.
