Jesper, i just did some simple photoshop process on your photo.
I convert the image grayscale first. Then i select the eyes of him, and from Image/Adjustment/Hue Saturation i picked the colorize option and made his eyes blue.
Then i selected roughly his head by selection tool then i increased the contrast and reduced the brightness. Then i selected inverse for the background, i did a similar thing for just making the shape of the tunnel more invisible.

Hope you enjoy it! Bye!

I like to see the eyes much more strong, so i painted the white parts in black. But i left the edges white a little.
And i dublicated the layer, sharpened it by giving high amounts -500. It sharpened the image a lot.
Then i erased the all parts exclude the eyes. In the result, i had the eyes sharp, other parts stayed exactly the same you did. And flattened.
Hope you like it..:)

I just cropped it from right side more and bottom side less to focus the scenery well.
But this personal taste, not sure it works for everyone.
Thanks for this great shot again.

Perhaps you prefer it in natural way. actually i do too. But perhaps you can make white balance adjustment before taking it for a white bg.

Here i choose Selective color in PS. Picked the white and made the black -100. Then for the parts for near frame, i used the Replace Color. Picked that parts and made them white.

Hope you dont mind!

I rotated your shot to left to make the horizon line parallel to the frame. And i cropped it both bottom and top.

Adjusted levels and increased the contrast.
Hope you like it.
Best wishes...

From the selective color in PS, i pick the black and neutral and decrase the black in them. So i tried to make the gray areas more white!

First i decrease the black and the neutral in Photoshop from Selective Color. Then i increased the contrast, just to emphasize the difference of the areas by making them more white and dark. Hope you like it!

I adjusted the color balance in Photoshop, in my monitor it seems a bit red. I reduce the red, magenta and the yellow a bit. But not sure that i catched the new born baby skin tone.
And for adding more softness to shot i used Neat Image.

Congrats your family!

Staircase has a DNA look. I konw you prefer space on right. But i did a tight crop for emphasize the shape of the stairs..
