(8338) [2008-06-27 08:02:45] [3] | Hi Peter, Just a different version of your canoes. I liked the pattern of the boats. I added a little contrast and cloned out the pipe on the stone wall. I had a difficult time with the crop as I wanted to keep the little duck! :D
Hope you don't mind a variation. Lisa |

(3929) [2008-06-17 02:31:12] [1] | As I said in the comment, I thought there was a little much "blank" shingle to the right, so I cropped that out. Then, because the cliffs were not as sharp as the flowers, I softened them with the Blur tool. also encroaching on the mid-ground. Then a slight increase in saturation of yellow and red, fiddled with your frame a bit in Image-Transform to shrink it down (not done that too well, I fear).
I'm sure you could do a much better job on the original where you'll have many more pixels with which to play.
Kind Regards,
John. |

 PSE6 but mainly plug-ins. | tyro
(3929) [2008-04-08 10:55:35] [1] | Hello, Peter.
I rather feel that by this workshop all I am doing is adding to the confusion, but here goes. I agreed that some bits of the flowers looked a tad over-exposed so (although I really don't understand what I'm doing - I tend to do things and read the instruction book later) I reduced the brightness firstly in Levels by reducing the output from 253 to about 245. I'm not really sure if you're supposed to do that, but that's what I did.
Then to the plug-in Neat Image and just had a wee play to try to reduce the noise a little (I don't really know what I'm doing there either). Then SmartCurve to try to increase the contrast with a sort-of sigma curve. (PSE6 does have some quite helpful additions to make "curves" a bit simpler, but the SmartCurve plug-in seems to work just as well.) Then, because Neat Image had softened it all a bit, I sharpened it a little in Unsharp Mask.
A bit too many steps to remember completely, but that was the gist of it.
I hope I haven't completely destroyed this picture which, I feel, was actually rather nice before we all started mucking about with it!
Kind Regards,
John. |

RAW Therapee, PS 7 and FastStone | graffer
(805) [2008-04-06 06:45:17] | Following Bev's comment about over-exposure, I thought I would go back to the original RAW file to see if I could get a better result.
I would be interested to know if this seems to be an improvement on the original. |

I would be interested to know which version is preferred. |
