(2319) [2007-09-10 21:57:32] [2] | | Perhaps I overdid the brightening a little, it took away some of the shadows I enjoyed so much, but I can see his face more clearly. I used the fill flash tool, then selected just his face with the magic wand and created a new adjustment layer and brightened it, merged it into one again, then used the clarify tool. I still like the shadows in the original better and the trees look kind of weird in my version, but I did enjoy seeing the expression on Andrew's face very much. |

(15465) [2007-08-30 18:20:44] [2] | Copied the image to two layers.
Bottom layer: changed to B&W
Top Layer, erased everything that was not part of Andrew and his sister.
Also brightened it a lot to retrieve the colors.
Hope you like it

(15465) [2007-08-27 17:43:53] | Hi John,
With Paint Shop Pro X, I played with shadows, midtones and brightness to see more details. Then added a splash of the clarify tool
Hope you like it

(228) [2007-08-26 19:10:20] [1] [+] | Well, in order to emphasize the play of light and shadow, which I think is what you wanted to do here, I converted first to black and white since color has a tendency to distract from plays of light and shadow. Then I applied the highlight/shadow function and adjusted the midtone contrasts a little, to increase them. Then adjusted levels to make the darkest tones and midtones a little richer and darker. Then I used the "sharpen" tool in the vertical skinny toolbar to sharpen the face, hands, and arms just a little bit (strength at about 27%). Hope you like it!
