This image, too, I believe, like the original and the first workshop, gets at the technique Helen described in setting this week's theme. The perspective this time is a bit to the left (north) of the original post, showing more of the harbor that gives the community its name.

There are several other buildings on the grounds of the Cana Island Light -- a storage building, oil house, keeper's quarters, and privy have all been on the property over the years. It's a long path to the light and the water in the background runs along side a narrow strip that connects mainland and island.

-Go to Filter/ Diffuse glow : graininess 0, glow amount 5, clear amount 15

Warming, Rotation, Less Sharpening

Listening to your feedback, I'm trying this one again. Slower, more methodically. I did a temperature adjustment in PhotoSmart Express to bring the snow back to its white tone and the sky back to sunset colors. Next, I did one pass of The Gimp's Light-and-Shadows sharpening plug-in. I rotated the image -2.5° and scaled to 800 pixels. Then I did a final, very modest pass of USM. The exposure's still not quite perfect, but this seems much more accurate.

OK, as noted, here is the -2.07° rotational adjustment in The Gimp. Hopefully, this attains the level horizon that has been discussed. Note that it's slightly smaller than the original because of the cropping necessary for the edge slices of the image lost to the rotation.
